I say this, is because you can still earn the money/orb rewards from not only your own hosted game, but also joining a Co-Op session, which pretty much doubles the rewards.

Games made nearly 20 years ago like Diablo 2 has co-op and had story progression sharing. It completely discourages friends from beating the game together, and no it doesn't prevent people from "breaking the game" as some would suggest. Don't ask me why they decided to do this because even I'm baffled by it. Each player hears/see themselves as Lo Wang and sees other.
This means that if you are trying to both play through the story together, only the host of the game will actually finish the quest, the guy joining will have to do the quests all over again as the host himself if you two wish to stay on the same pace.
